Soccer Referee Jerseys
Soccer Ref Jerseys – Making No Mistake As To Who Is In Charge
Soccer ref jerseys come in a fairly standard style although there does tend to be some leeway amongst local administrators of soccer competitions about the colors and patterns of referee jerseys that are permitted to be worn.
While jerseys do need to conform to the general look that is required of a referee type official, the jerseys themselves can come in any color. That being said of course, the shirts should not in any way look like the shirts worn by the soccer teams, as this may cause no end of confusion on field.
Conforming With Style – Avoiding A Clas
The most well recognized and officially accepted jersey for referees is usually made from plain black material. Often you will find that black and white vertical stripes down the front and back of the shirt are also adopted in some countries and competitions.
Black shorts are also a widely recognized component of the uniform for game ref officials. If administrators in a soccer league allow a ref to wear a color other than black or to veer from the officially recognized black and white stripe, then they are encouraged to maintain at the very least, the vertical stripes. Naturally of course this depends on the teams within the competition as this would not be a good option should teams within the competition also have vertical stripes on their jerseys.
The official uniform for a referee usually consists of colored shorts, a plain color or vertically striped jersey, knee-high socks, and cleats. Some local leagues – particularly those at the higher levels – also require their officials to wear caps and shin guards for added on field protection.
Soccer league administrators may provide equipment to potential referees prior to game play. As with all sports, while some administrators provide soccer bags and equipment to officials, other do not, so it is always useful for a referee to maintain his own supplies including copy of league rules, soccer lanyards and spare whistles, league score cards, penalty cards, and one stopwatch for the game and a spare just in case!
